The Forgiveness of Sins

Read Ephesians 4:25 - 5:2

This statement of the Christian faith "I believe in the forgiveness of sins" comes after confessing the holy catholic church and the communion of saints, WHY? Because it is a matter of faith chiefly commanded to be exercised with "one another." So many times we are commanded to forgive one another, with the Father's forgiving mercy in Christ to be our patter; even the Lord's Prayer teaches us this. This sermon deals with fallicies concerning the forgiveness of sins, what we are asking God to do in forgiving us, and the chief condition of forgiving one another.

Be of Good Cheer

Read Daniel 7:9-14 with Matthew 9:1-8

Faith that seeks the Lord is rewarded [Hebrews 11:6], but not always in the way we think. The Lord Jesus clearly saw the faith of these men and the paralytic, but instead of immediately healing him, Christ proclaimed his authority and power with the forgiveness of his sins. However misgided their faith was in what they sought, they nonetheless sought the Lord's mercies, and Christ gave the greatest mercy of all - your sins are forgiven.
