Kneeling to Pray [2]

Read Ephesians 6:10-20 with Daniel 9:3-19

We are exhorted often in Scripture to be a people who pray without ceasing. What does that look like in our life. These verses of Ephesians 6:18-20 give us a picture of such prayer, which is not only a means of grace, but an activity of the church militant. In truth, as Paul closes this section on spiritual warfare, he shows that prayer is vital to standing against the schemes of Satan. The strength of any church ministry rest, in measure, upon the prayers of the church.

Kneeling to Pray

Read Ephesians 6:10-20 with Hebrews 4:14-16

After describing the various pieces of the Armour of God, which are necessary for Christians to be able to stand and withstand the schemes of Satan, Paul directs us to the chief means of grace given through the High Priestly ministry of Jesus Christ - All-Prayer; "praying always with all prayer and supplication..." Like the warfare, and being equipped with the armour of God, Paul has chiefly in mind the church praying. Even when reading The Lord's Prayer and Hebrews 4:14-16, preeminently it is corporate prayer in focus. Are you as a church kneeling to pray as you stand strong in the Lord and the power of his might?

The Preparation of the Gospel of Peace

Read Ephesians 6:13,15 with Colossians 1:19-29

The preparation of the gospel of peace is set in the imagery of footwear. Just as wearing proper footwear for special occasions, journeys, or weather is necessary, so too our will and determination for each day must be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. This message defines the gospel of peace and its necessity for each day.

The Belt of Truth

Read Ephesians 6:13-14 with Ephesians 4:17-25

The first piece of armour God has given us, in order to stand against the schemes of Satan, is the belt of truth. But what exactly do we mean by truth. This message focuses on the purpose of truth - the Word of God, the person of Jesus Christ, and the sincerity of truth in our life - and how excellent it is for being a holy child of God int his world.

Standing in His Strength

Read Ephesians 6:10-20 with Joshua 1:1-11

The phrase "Spiritual warfare" has a broad spectrum of acceptance and understanding containing a fair bit of confusion and ignorance. There is an enemy we face because of union with the Lord Jesus Christ; and Satan and his hosts are have great wrath because they know their time is short. So how do we stand against such? We stand in the power and might of our Lord, by putting on the whole armour of God. This sermon reveals the battlefield, and the enemy's ways; and closes with the confidence the saint has in Christ.

Satan Cast Down

Read Matthew 8:28-34

Matthew's intent is to declare the great authority the Lord Jesus exercised as the Christ and Saviour of his people. In this text, Christ Jesus reveals the chief purpose of his ministry, to destroy the works of the devil. Hear what those works of Satan are and how the Lord Jesus casts him down to destroy and disarm the devil.
